First 24 hours after implant placement
–Do not spit too hard – Little bleeding is expected after the procedure which will subside within few hours . – Keep the gauze on surgical area for 30 to 40 minutes. – All medications should be taken as prescribed -Do not eat anything hot ,hard and spicy. –Use cold pack on the face near surgical site to reduce swelling for the 1st 2 hours only.
48 hours after implant placement
–Brush your teeth twice a day and be gentle and avoid bruising the surgical site . –If mouthwash is prescribed use it as directed by your doctor . –Start with salt water gargling.
DON’T S
* Do not smoke or consume alcohol for atleast a week *Avoid strenuous activity and exercise for 4-5 days . *Avoid carbonated drinks and abrasive foods for a week. *Don’t place your tongue on the surgical site .
Do’s
* After 24 hrs do salt water gargling and gently brush ,but avoid disturbing the surgical site . * First 6-7 hrs have soft foods.Prevent dehydration by taking regular fluids . * If there is swelling following surgery apply ice pack for 20 minutes on and off . After 48hrs you use a warm pack .
