Orthodontic problems can be because of teeth / jaws or combination of both. Every individual as a pattern of biting, accordingly the person gets grouped under a classification for orthodontic treatment .

How many types of malocclusion do we have? Basically there are three types Cl1, Cl2, Cl3.Again this can be skeletal that is the jaws( Upper / lower) or dental ( upper and lower teeth) to be considered for the classification. An Orthodontist plans the case according to these classifications.

Cl1, individuals have predominantly the teeth problems like being Crooked, forwardly placed, gaps etc with no factor of the jaws problem. Relatively easy to get treated.

Cl2, individuals are more complex usually the jaws and the teeth contribute to the problem. The upperjaw itself may be placed front along with the upper teeth or the lower jaw itself may be placed backwards as compared to the upper jaw. All in all the person will have a complaint that the upper teeth is forward. In these cases the orthodontist on evaluation will have to identify the Cl2 condition and subject the individual to the jaw correction

What is the best age to treat Cl2 condition? Always get the treatment done in a young age. Depends how early in childhood the condition is diagnosed. Age group of 6 to 11 yrs treatment are easier as compared to 11yr to 18 Yr. And above 18yr onwards it is more complex treatment involving surgeries.
